Creative compost: France trip
Posted: August 1, 2011 Filed under: Research Images, Travel Leave a comment »Here are some images from the faculty-led student trip I took recently to France with Katharine Whitcomb. If you want to see the students blogs go here or visit creativecastlecwu.wordpress.com. We stayed mostly at this lovely artists & writers residency in southern France called La Muse, everyone should visit this small perched village as part of their artist bucket list. Finally, I should add that some of these images were definitely taken because I love printed matter – I am thinking that the folks in printeresting need to head over to Barcelona soon!
On a more conceptual note, my new term creative compost relates to all the things that influence my creative process. After watching my brother’s lecture, Amze Emmons, I realized there is more data than just the actual creative projects and I need to point to those influences more since they help foreshadow what I am like any artist informed by. The language ‘creative compost’ seems appropriate given my conceptual interests in domestic space for my larger creative projects. Compost is supposed to be this great mixture of stuff that makes your garden, could be kind icky, which I love, but also requires so many different kind of materials to fuel the garden! Let me know what you think.
